Alienology

"Alienology" is series of fully 3d computer graphic images depicting fictional alien ecology on Gas Giant planet similar to Jupiter or Saturn.
At the same time "Alienology" is exercise in creating 3D computer graphics in a different way.

Base alien forms themselves are created using l-systems fractal geometry parsing. Thus, basic form of aliens is semi-random as it is created by mutating set of initial rules. When I find the shape that I like, I import that geometry in Max or sometimes Maya and I proceed to add details and secondary geometry layers and textures.
So, in a way, whole shape is organically evolved first by using l-systems and then by applying design decisions by the artist based on that initial shape.
